Sharon Wilburn
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Growing up in a home with a government contractor meant moving to a lot of different places. It makes it easy to listen to a lot of different stories and lifestyles. I think that is why people have always opened up to me, even on the city bus! My profession was not so much a choice as it was just the way I got to know people.
I have four grown children and a bunch of grandkids and great grands. They are scattered around the southwestern united states and deep south.
When the kids were grown, I went back to college and got my degree in psychology and my master's in social work. I have spent the last 22 years working in the field with a variety of different emphases. Starting with substance abuse and moving on to dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, PTSD and social anxiety. I worked with the military for 9 and a half years, almost 10. I am forming a men's group and a women's group for trauma survivors.
I believe that each of us is the expert in our own life story and as such the most likely person to rescue ourselves. I believe that we all have strengths that get us to the point of changing our own lives for the better.
